Château de Lussac
Chateau de Lussac is a 61 Acres Planted with 20% Cabernet and 80% Merlot in the AOP Lussac St Emilion Located north of the Saint-Émilion appellation areas. In Lussac, the vineyards populate an amphitheater of south-facing plateaus and valleys, which promotes good natural drainage. Grass is grown on alternative rows and ‘Lutte Raisonnée’ (sustainable) as been practiced here for many years. Yields are a low 35 – 40 Hl/Ha.
The wines are elaborated in a brand new, state-of-the-art winery located adjacent to the castle. Traditional vinification in stainless steel is followed by six months of aging. The estate experiments with new types of oak barrel suppliers every year with a three years rotating barrel program (complicated by a tiny 2017 vintage).
Lussac is currently in transition to receive its HVE3 (High Environmental Value) official certification.
Delicious, with intense aromas with notes of red fruit and underlying hints of liquorice, prune and spice, Lussac is always elegant and displays balanced tannic structure.
